We discovered Katie of Shutter Freek one afternoon, and it was as if the color vibrant gods and western chic gods combined. There are so many things we want to share with you from this styled shoot, that we felt it was only necessary to break it up into parts!
For part 1 of this series, we’re going to sharing how Shutter Freek brought vibrant rich colors choices and details into this styled shoot and how you can bring them into your wedding day too.
We’ve come to learn that A LOT of brides have this hidden desire to have pops of color incorporated into their wedding day. They’ll have their main color palette, but will want a little something extra, but don’t know how to incorporate it into their day without it looking like confetti threw up on the wedding…
(if you didn’t sing that in your best Carrie Underwood singing voice… are you even on the right website?)
One of the BIGGEST ways you can do this is by allowing your florist some room to throw in a couple of fun colors! Now hear us out when we say make them SUBTLE fun colors. What does this mean? Have SOFT oranges and yellows versus the bright ones that come to mind immediately.
Talk with your wedding planner and florist and get their recommendations on what the best colors will be to take your wedding to that next level!! DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TALK TO YOUR VENDORS. You’re paying them for a reason and they are (or should be) there to help!!
Let’s say you wanna go a little off the beaten path, but don’t want to quite jump off the cliff. If your colors are (for example) burgundy, navy blue and blush: use any and all shades of these colors you can!! It will bring in an extra dimension to your wedding, allow for you to feel like you got that pop of color you wanted, and we guarantee it’ll look like it’s straight out of a magazine.
A little back story on this beautiful New Mexico styled shoot:
“Tucked into Northern New Mexico, with the soaring Brazos Mountains flanking the east is the charming historical town of Chama. Just on the outskirts of Chama is an incredible venue along the Chama River called Log River Ranch. This gorgeous venue is a 3rd generation privately owned property with a beautiful spacious barn and large cozy cabin just on the bank of the river. Log River Ranch provides any family gathering or wedding the space and picturesque setting for the fondest of memories. We thought it would be perfect to create the mood for this session.
The floral designs were inspired by the natural surroundings, incorporating native plants into the styling. We wanted to showcase how to elevate that special day, adding to the overall magnitude of the most significant of moments. We wanted to evolve these designs in a way that would lend to the boho / urban western vibe, placing all the attention on the details and beauty of the Bride. We wanted to inspire Brides to think outside of the typical Wedding box, to spring imagery that would evoke creativity and innovation.
Jazzymyn at Wilder bakery is literally heaven on a platter. Her attention to detail, and floral accents that tied together all the themes, oozes her love for baking and creativity. She bakes cakes that evoke emotion and timeless memories.
Livewire Couture is on the far reaches of the edge with her designs. Each Bridal ensemble screams style, sophistication, class, chic, timelessness and sheer gorgeousness. Each gown is an original hand made masterpiece that reveals new intimate secrets about each Bride who wears them.
Katie McPherson, Shutterfreek lives to tell these epic love tales filled with beauty and grace. She loves pulling back the layers, stopping the motion of these split second glimpses of perfection. She believes in moments that matter in this space. She was entices by the direction of this style wanted to add something to her portfolio that would shift Brides in a new direction. “
