THE LOVE STORY
“I met Devin at the American Rodeo, he was working and my friends and I were just there for fun, and he kept calling me “wild thing,” and I immediately started joking that we would end up getting married! So it just fit!
I would say the overall inspo for our wedding was just a reflection of my background and overall style. I’m from a very deep-rooted California rodeo family (and Devin has worked for resistol for 10 years so is deeply engrained in the industry) so rodeo and the western way of life is very fundamental to who we are. However, my style is not “traditional” western, it’s more funky, boho and modern. So I wanted the wedding to be very western, but colorful and with details that really represent who we are. I’m a lawyer and went to law school in LA, so there were a few “love letters” to that part of my life as well.” – Bride, Shannon Jones
FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER
“This Morro Bay Ranch wedding was a literal dream come true. Planning a wedding in the middle of a global pandemic is no joke. Unfortunately, Shannon and Devin found this out first hand. Especially since rules and regulations change by the minute right now. Since they lost their venue, they decided to move their wedding to Shannon’s family ranch in Morro Bay, California. Turns out that was kismet. Despite morning lightning storms, a pandemic, and more, their wedding went off without a hitch!
Shannon and Devin met at the American Rodeo a few years ago. While we braved a cold and cloudy day for that session, we got lucky with a gorgeous and warm day for their wedding. Shannon comes from a rodeo family. Her mom and sister barrel race and Shannon has done multiple events. Furthermore, her dad is none other than John W. Jones Jr. Champion Steer Wrestler and was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1996. Additionally qualifying for the NFR twice in tie-down roping. But enough about him!
Not only was it a perfect day, but Shannon and Devin made stunning and unique choices for their perfect wedding day. Colorful flowers, a mariachi band, a badass band from Nashville for the reception, stunning rentals for epic lounge areas and so much more! Needless to say, everywhere you looked was perfection. It goes without saying that if you looked in Shannon and Devin’s general direction at any point during the night all you saw were smiles and so much love!
Undoubtedly the ceremony site was special due to a wedding arch made from manzanita branches found on their Morro Bay ranch by the father of the bride. The dessert table was gorgeous. Without a doubt, the food from the Far Western was beyond excellent. And unquestionably, one of the most touching mother son dances I’ve ever witnessed.” – Elizabeth Hay Photography
