Reese and Kay first crossed paths at Voca Church in Caney, Oklahoma. They became Facebook friends, and when Kay struck up a conversation about Reese’s first elk hunting experience, the rest was history. Reese lived in Greeley, Colorado, and Kay would drive there from Durant, Okla., to visit, then eventually stay. A better job opportunity arose for Reese in Scott City, Kan., so both of them packed up and headed to Kansas. The two were given job opportunities from the same company in Scott City, to move down to a ranch in Syracuse, where they now reside. “We were given a chance to ride for this ranch, which began our life long journey working and riding for the brand, together,” Kay said.
Kay scheduled a photo shoot with an area western photographer for Memorial Day, and Reese kept asking when the shoot was. Little did she know, Reese was having his grandmother’s ring made into an engagement ring for Kay, in hopes it was done and delivered before the shoot. The photographer suggested some shots on the ground on a blanket, and when the portion was over, Reese said, “I have just one more photo I would like to do on the blanket.” There he got down on one knee and asked Kay for forever.
The two are now happily planning their future wedding from their quaint ranch house in the Sandhills of Kansas.
