Salinas Rodeo has always been one of my favorite rodeos of all time, but it’s even more special to me now since I met my husband there 3 years ago. Although a lot of people like to take credit for us hitting it off that week, I think we were meant to be all along.
Our officiant read a story of how Stan and I met that my mom actually wrote and surprised us with. Her point of view is pretty spot on and it was a special part of our wedding ceremony…
“I remember telling Kate that real love comes from out of the blue and with someone you least expect sometimes, so it was funny when she came to me and asked who’s Stan Branco? Funny because they grew up 25 miles from each other. Traveling the same trails to many of the same events with families that are friends. All along with Kate having been friends with his brother, Roy, but never meeting one another. All of you that know Kate and Stan know they have completely different personalities. Opposites attract they say, but Kate and Stan are definitely kindred spirits. Your soul is what makes you the person you are, and they both have the most confident, kind, genuine, giving , loyal, ambitious souls that bonds them together. They laugh and joke with each other and you can tell by the way they look at each other they are home.”
Our wedding had many sentimental and personal touches like that, which meant the world to me. My mom and I designed and planned everything together. All of the decor used at the wedding was either built by my dad, uncle, or husband. They built everything from our ceremony doors, horseshoe cacti, and our bar (that I may or may have not danced on at the reception). The rest of the pieces were things that have been in our families for years. In my eyes, it was the perfect mix between rustic and cowboy and turned out just perfect for us.
