One of my best friends met Mark on a Christian dating site and after some conversation she realized that they were not a good match. Knowing what she knew about me and what she learned in her brief conversations with him, she knew he and I would probably be a better fit. She told me about Mark and asked my permission to share my contact information with him. I eagerly agreed and within minutes he sent me the first text message on July 20th.
The next couple of days we talked via text/phone/FaceTime and on 7/24/21 we went on our first official date. We had dinner, played a round of mini golf and enjoyed some ice cream together and we knew that night that we had both found our person.
We had deep discussions early on to ensure we were on the same page when it came to our faith. We are both living our lives to serve the Lord and it was a priority for us to find a partner that wanted to do the same. The next few months were a whirlwind as Mark and I lived 90 minutes apart from each other and had to maneuver commuting back and forth for work, all of our family gatherings and church functions too. We stretched ourselves thin on more than one occasion but God brought us through all of it and we were thankful.
Mark proposed to me on October 16th. It was a perfect Fall day at the farm, in the middle of the cow pasture with a few curious calves. Prayer is very common for us so when he asked to pray in the pasture I really had no idea it would end in our engagement!
We set our wedding date for December because we knew we didn’t want to wait. It also just so happened that my parents were celebrating 40 years of marriage and his were celebrating 47 years of marriage in December as well so it only seemed fitting.
