THE LOVE STORY
Zack and I (Millie) both grew up in small towns in Northeast Mississippi about one hundred miles apart. Our story together began October 2018 with thanks to the good Lord and a little help from Facebook! After talking for a week or so, we went on our first date to a bull riding at a local arena. Then a couple weeks later, I asked him to be my plus one at my brothers wedding which of course ended in him catching the garter and is still talked about to this day. We spent the next few months getting to know each other. After lots of horseback riding at my family’s farm, hunting trips, going to church together, etc. we both knew that we wanted this friendship to grow into a lasting relationship. Zack asked me to be his girlfriend that spring and we dated for two years. He popped the question March 5, 2021 at my barn while surrounded by our family, friends and horses! It was so sweet and special. We had been praying that if it was meant to be that God would let it happen, and He definitely paved the trail.
We took a trip together to Colorado that July, and a good friend of mine took our engagement pictures at their ranch in the Rocky Mountains where I had spent the past two summers working. It was very special to have Zack there with me and get our pictures taken at a place where I had made so many awesome friends and memories!
Our Wedding
Zack and I had always talked about wanting a fall wedding so, we set the date for October and were able to book a gorgeous venue in my hometown of Starkville, MS. With just a few months to go, I jumped into full wedding planning mode. Western Wedding Magazine’s Instagram page was definitely my go-to place to get tons of inspiration in order to pull off the most magical cowgirl wedding! We had so many beautiful details of our own, which included lots of turquoise, pompous grass, cowhide rugs, custom made leather bouquet wrap and garter, as well as a handmade wood/cowhide picture frame and branding iron for the ceremony. I have to say one of my favorite parts of the day was getting to ride up on my horse and surprise Zack and our guests, and also having our flower girl and ring bearer ride my childhood ponies down the aisle. Dreams do come true! I can’t thank my friends and family enough for helping me plan all of the details, and our awesome Texas photographer, who captured our day so perfectly.
