Cort proposed to me on August 21st, 2020 in the rain surrounded by our friends and family. On September 25th, 2021 we were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Smith in the middle of a rain storm in the desert. People would ask, what happens if it rains, and I would respond, we’re getting married in front of the mountains, rain or shine. Now I didn’t think we would actually be getting married in the rain, but God works in mysterious ways like that. Our wedding day was so joyful and no one cared that we were all standing out in the rain. It truly reminded Cort and I how loved we are. We had planned our dream day for just over a year, and even though we didn’t plan on the rain, it could not have turned out better. Plus the ranchers that were in attendance are happy anytime we get rain in the desert. Cort and I wanted our wedding to resemble our love and Gods love. Our ceremony was in the pasture next to his Grandmother’s home, with the mountain range behind us. This place is where Cort grew up and we couldn’t think of a better spot to get married and start our family. This was also the view I fell in love with when I would come visit while we were doing long distance. Corts Grandfather has passed but we wanted his barn to be included in our wedding day, so we spent months cleaning it up and loved getting to make more memories in it. The landscape was beautiful enough, we didn’t want to distract from Gods beauty, so we chose to do natural tones on our flowers and decor. The green velvet jacket was a dream of mine when Cort and I started dating. Some details that are sentimental to us that we included on our day was the unity cross we braided, was handmade by my mother out of old barn wood. The doors we branded at our rehearsal are the same doors we walked through on our wedding day. Those French doors came out of an old farm house my great grandparents built, and someday we hope to put those in our home. I also was fortunate enough to wear corts grandmothers squash blossom which completed my wedding day look. Our family and friends helped us so much with our day, and we are forever grateful. The wedding was simply a dream come true!
