Caitlin wanted a fall color palette that consisted of dark wood, deep oranges and reds with her personal favorite accent colors of turquoise, silver and black. Their ceremony had rows of black Madison Bentwood chairs and an aisle lined with clusters of Pampas grass, autumnal shades of roses & leaves with classic southern smilax. Her dark wooden arbor had a corner install with the same cluster of florals, and a southern longhorn skull hung in the middle. Underneath were a scattered mix of bohemian and cowhide rugs.
Following the same color palette in the reception space, guests were greeted in the front foyer by a massive black urn and large floral install that matched the couple’s aisle pieces. Sitting atop a gorgeous deep orange velvet linen adorned with engagement photos of the couple and a copy of “West: The American Cowboy” Photography book by Anouk Masson Krantz as their guest book. Their seating chart was custom made by the bride’s father out of the wood of a stall door from her childhood barn and horse shoe’s from their own horses. Each horseshoe had a card matching the couples invitation suite, tied with a ribbon detailing each guest’s name and table number. Guests then walked into the main dining space to see a gorgeous overhanging pampas install in the middle of the room, spanning the length of the three eight- foot- long natural grey wooden tables lined with natural finish king louis chairs. Underneath the install was a deep orange runner and ornate bud vases filled with an assortment of roses and ranunculus’s in shades of orange, pink, mauve and deep red. Surrounding the bud vases were rows of floating candles, turquoise goblets, silver charger plates and flatware. Custom white and black menus with the couples personalized brand and cream satin napkins completed the main table scape. The couple also chose the venue’s natural King Louis Chairs for their guest’s tables. Those included ivory satin linens, an assortment of tall arrangements and small compotes, turquoise tapered candles and goblets, silver charger plates and flatware, with dark orange napkins.
Their semi round 12-foot wooden bar was actually custom made for a private event with Jon Pardi by a local company named Wooden Hearts Boutique, at the same venue a year prior. It has rich walnut accents and warm ambient lighting that we felt would be the perfect match for them and the entire design of the room. They also had three small tables at the north end of their head table, Infront of the dancefloor for the wedding cakes and champagne toast. A small dark wooden table in the middle held the main wedding cake which was a four-tiered lemon blueberry naked cake adorned with southern smilax. On either side were two similar sized tables with gorgeous velvet turquoise linens, one holding the custom groom’s cake that was a nod to the groom’s bronc riding career and the other was a table with their custom painted champagne bottle for their toast. They also had a wooden dancefloor that matched their dark wooden stage front with a gobo projection light that projected the couples ranch brand onto the dancefloor. Giving it a true western dance hall vibe. Dark orange lighting also lined each wall emitting a warm glow throughout the room that got even warmer as the night went on.
The Wedding Events: Aspen Ranch, the couple’s venue can accommodate up to 42 guests for a destination weekend stay. Caitlin and Trent along with all their family and friends, stayed in the four onsite lodging accommodations Friday to Sunday. They had their rehearsal dinner in the large estate on property and were also able to bring their own personal horses to stay. They were even able to be in the pastures directly behind the venues and their ceremony space for the ceremony. Already being on property the wedding party easily made their way down to the suites to get ready. As the boys enjoyed their time in the pool house, Caitlin and her bridesmaids got ready in the bridal and honeymoon suites. Caitlin dressed in an all lace fitted long sleeve wedding gown and long braid had a stunning bouquet that sat in a custom leather wrap with charms honoring her loved ones that had passed. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as Caitlin rode in on her childhood horse, a 22 year old APHA named Cowboy alongside her father. Her Father Steve, rode in on their ten year old AQHA named bill, while Shake the Frost by Tyler Childers played in the background. Which was fitting as the couple walked back down the aisle to another favorite Childers Song, Space & Time.
After the ceremony guests were immediately directed to a ceremonial branding on the patio directly behind them in front of a gorgeous tall white fireplace attached to the venues. With the help of the bride’s father the couple branded their personal ranch brand on a framed piece of cowhide. During cocktail hour and as guests found their seats in the reception space, the photo and video team snuck the couple off for portraits. One important thing to them was to incorporate all of their beloved animals into the portraits. That included their twelve year old Palomino AQHA Stacy, Usdie a nine year old grey paint with one blue eye and Tex a ten year old dapple grey AQHA. As well as their precious pack of dogs, three heelers; Betty, Mushu, & Gus and a toy “Auggie” named Tilly.
Since the venue property was formerly used to breed and train thoroughbreds, it has an un- used three-eighths of a mile training track. Caitlin and Trent decided to do something unique and spontaneous to end out their formal portraits, with a sunset race on the track. Trent raced Tex their grey dapple AQHA and Caitlin raced her ten year old bay colored AQHA, primarily used by Caitlin to in barrel races. To no one’s surprise our stunning bride won by a landslide and there are the most incredible photos and videos to prove it. One video currently gaining a bit of traction on the Venue’s tik tok account.
After sunset photos Caitlin and Trent entered in their reception and went straight to their first dance. It was the sweetest moment as they two-stepped to “Rodeo Moon” by Chris Ledoux. After their first dances they cut their cakes, the grooms cake was a surprise and nod to his rodeo bucking career. It was a single layer round cake lined with faux icing rope and a photo of the groom competing, in the middle. Another surprise for the groom was located underneath the cake table in which the bride enlisted his groomsmen for a little help for a proper western wedding chapping moment. No grooms were harmed in the process. The couple then danced the night away along with their family and friends underneath another custom install from the bride’s father and brother. A chandelier made from horse-shoes welded together. Neon Moon a talented country band led by lead singer Kyle Earhart, set the tone for the rest of the night and kept everyone on the dancefloor. To properly enjoy their lively dancefloor the bride changed into a white bridal jumpsuit and felt grey Stetson. After their grand exit the bride and groom made their getaway in the venue’s white Rolls Royce Ghost that took them back to their onsite lodging. Where they ended their magical night by jumping into the pool as the photo/video team captured some epic end of the night photos.
