THE LOVE STORY
In June 25, 2017 – We met. Anyone who knows my brother, knows that anywhere you go will take an extended period of time because he knows EVERYONE. It took Hannah, Steven, and I about an hour to make it from the front gate of the Reno Rodeo to the Member’s Bar. We walked up to the bar and just like clockwork, Steven struck up a conversation with a cowboy sippin’ on whiskey. They chatted about a custom leather rifle sling he recently made for my brother and caught up on life since the rifle sling (In other words, they were bsing). I was standing to the side of the conversation at this point, mostly because Steven hadn’t made any introduction. This gave me time to observe. I had gathered that this guy was one very handsome cowboy, he can spell my last name (huge bonus points), and he is pretty dang talented with leather, he has some really cool stories, and he seems like a genuine guy. After about 30 minutes Steven moved the conversation to a table and Joe plopped himself right next to me. “Hi, I am Joe”. Call it an instant connection or chemistry, but we were inseparable the rest of the rodeo performance that night. We met up the night after that, and the night after that, and the night after that.
June 25/26, 2017 – First Kiss. There are two renditions of our first kiss story. I believe we kissed on the first night we met and Joe insists it was the second because he is a respectful gentlemen. From the moment I met Joe, the thing that stuck out to me is his role as a provider. I was never thirsty or hungry. I was never cold, my feet never hurt. I never walked on the sidewalk closest to the cars. I never opened a door. He was chivalrous from the day I met him, and he is today. Anyway, back to the story. Whether we kissed on the first night or second, the most handsome, respectful, selfless cowboy shuffled me across the dance floor at the Reno Rodeo after party. After hours and hours of dancing, countless laughs Joe looked at me “May I kiss you?”, I agreed. And that was the moment I knew I was going to marry him some day.
July 3, 2017- We started dating. After being nearly inseparable the entire Reno Rodeo, my mom and I took off to Disneyland.I suppose this was a ‘test’ of how ‘committed’ Joe was. I’m not sure there are words to describe how well he ‘passed the test’ in the truest, most chivalrous Joe form. As my mom and I landed back in Reno, Joe swept me away to a romantic date night filled with wine and sushi. In the end, he asked me to be his girlfriend in which I replied, “It’s about damn time.” – Bride, Michaella.
