It all started with a dance… I moved to Stephenville to begin school at Tarleton State University; a few days after moving, my sister and I decided to go to a Charlie Daniel’s concert in Fort Worth. I was asked to dance and am so glad I said yes! Marcus grew up near Fort Worth, he told me he was “obligated to show me around the Stockyards” since it was my first time. I had just met this guy, but I had this sense of calmness the entire night.
A few days later he reached out to me asking if he could take me out on a date once he returned from working out of town. I gladly accepted and waited for what seemed like the longest two weeks ever. Our first date flew by, we sat and talked for hours like old friends. From that moment forward, we have talked and laughed every day since!
Marcus worked out of town a lot for the first couple years of us dating, it was challenging at times, but I believe this is what built a strong foundation for our relationship. Marcus then transitioned to a job that did not require as much travel and I am so glad he did! We have had many more opportunities to go and do things together!
A couple fun and adventurous years go by. Marcus decides we should go on an “impromptu” trip to Fredericksburg. We were headed to a nice dinner date, or so I thought. Marcus suggested we walk up a mountain to watch the sunset. On November 13th, 2020, Marcus proposed on top of the mountain in front of the most beautiful sunset. I will never forget that moment!!
When you hear that God puts people in your life for a reason, don’t take that lightly. Marcus came into my life when I didn’t know I needed him. Marcus is my rock, the one who continues to bring me that same sense of calmness I had when we first met. I can’t wait for our wedding day in April, and to continue our lives together!
