TANNER + TWILA | NEWLYWED SESSION

After meeting Tanner, I knew he was the one. We were together for a year when we took a trip with our friends to the beach in Gulf Shores. Not thinking much into it, we had a relaxing couple of days, until he asked me to get ready for dinner and said we would be walking the beach beforehand. While we were walking the beach, he started getting antsy and that’s when I noticed rose petals on the ground and a heart shaped sand sculpture. We walked to the sculpture, and on it said “Will you marry me Twila?” Of course I said yes, and we have been together ever since. We got married on October 2nd and are enjoying married life!

A little background on newlywed session from the photographer

I started doing the newlywed sessions last year. I had quite a few couples get married (photographed by other photographers- I am by no means a wedding photographer, they are angels! I photograph mainly couples- engagement, anniversary, just because sessions, etc) and I enjoyed working with them as well as loved their style. Most couples are still on this high after they get married. They’re glowing. So I asked them to do a newlywed session, a session relatively soon after they’re married. My couples had a session 1-2 months after they said their “I do’s”. I asked questions about their new chapter in life as a married couple. Had them think back to when they first met, the day they exchanged vows, and the present moment. Just focused the entire session on what lead them up to that exact point in life and what their goals were as Mr. and Mrs. It was sweet. I felt it was another form of excitement in the stages of love in a relationship that you’re getting to document and make memorable for them, and it has to be one of my favorites now.
