Ben and I grew up in Southern California and met through high school rodeo. Considering our four-year age difference, when I met Ben I never thought we would be together. As a 12-year-old, I had a school-girl crush on Ben, and we talked pretty much daily. At the time, I considered Ben to be one of my best friends. Fast forward four years, Ben asked me to be his girlfriend. As a 16-year-old, junior in high school, my dad and older brother did not love the idea of me dating a 20-year-old. After getting to know Ben a little better, they quickly developed a fondness for Ben—as everyone always seems to do. After graduation, I moved to Central California to go to a junior college. Ben remained my biggest supporter and best friend throughout the years of long distance. After nearly 2 years, Ben decided to make the move with me to Texas as I transferred to Tarleton State University. Every day I am with Ben feels like a dream come true.
I am so blessed to be able to live my dream life with my best friend.
The best part of being with someone who shares the same western lifestyle, is that they push you to be better. Naturally I am a shy and quite person. Every day Ben pushes me out of my comfort zone and makes me challenge myself to be better. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for him and his support.
