THE LOVE STORY
“Whenever I think about the last five years with Colton, I am always reminded about God’s perfect timing. We met back in 2013, showing reining horses, both awkward and gangly teenagers. While it took us a few years to realize the other felt the same way we did (with no lack of encouragement from our friends and family), Colt and I decided to give our 600km apart friendship a chance at a relationship. From 2016 to 2021, we spent most of our relationship in different provinces. With Colton living and working in Alberta and me attending University in Saskatchewan, there were many hours spent driving but never once did it seem not worth it. Things have always felt easy with us from day one, even when busy lives would cause us to go two months without seeing each other. There was always a trust quality between us that always made me feel so at peace about our future. Knowing Colton’s character and passion, I always knew I’d be his wife one day. Finally, on September 26, 2020, Colton asked me to marry him. A cold, early morning shoot with his cousin as the photographer in Kananaskis, AB, finished with him down on one knee and me in complete disbelief. We exchanged vows the following July on the most beautiful day in Cremona, AB.
