Clint and I met over Christmas break 2009, while both of us were home from college visiting
family. I was up late one night and received a “Friend Request” on Facebook from him. I
accepted, even though I did not really know who he was. After chatting, I realized we went to
high school together-same grade, same friends, just never ran into each other back then. The
next night we met up at a dancehall called Rockin’ Rodeo with some of my brother’s friends, but
it was our second date that cinched it. We met at Barnes & Noble to get a coffee and walk
around. Of course, I was very shy and nervous and spilt my coffee right in front of the guy I was
trying to impress! He immediately laughed and responded with, “I love you.”
Two weeks into dating and we both knew we wanted to be together forever. We spent the next
several months dating long distance while we were both finishing our Masters degrees.
Traveling between Stephenville and College Station we soaked up as much time together as
possible. One of our favorite places to go was the Bush Library and Museum to walk the rose
garden. It was always so peaceful and allowed us to talk and grow closer discussing our dreams
and future together.
October 1, 2010 I drove down for the weekend and we went to dinner in town. Clint kept saying
he wanted to walk around the rose garden, which wasn’t unusual because we walked it alot, but
it was his persistence that I was confused by. I kept saying that I needed to go find a Halloween
costume and after going back and forth I finally agreed to go walk the rose garden. As we made
our way under the pavilion, he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I excitedly said, “Yes!” to the man of my dreams.
The next morning, to my surprise, my Mom and Clint’s Mom showed up to the apartment. Clint
had planned for them to come up so we could all go to David Gardener Jewelers to design my
wedding band.
We were married November 5, 2011 in an intimate ceremony at the George H.W. Bush Library
and Museum surrounded by our close family and friends. The evening was filled with romance,
laughter, and lots of dancing- A true Texas party with country music, Texas Roadhouse and lots
of Shiner Bock!
Our newlywed life was in the fast lane, with Clint receiving job offers to Nebraska and Michigan.
We saw it as an adventure and packed-up our little apartment to discover the Plains and
Midwest. After traveling and working throughout the country we decided it was time to head
home and start a family of our own. We moved to Lufkin, TX in 2015 and our first son Case was
born, followed by his brother Curt a year in a half later.
We have traveled to many states and countries throughout our marriage, but Enchanted Rock
has been a special place for us.. We’ve ventured to the hill country almost every year and have
shared so many memories here with our boys on vacations. We knew it was the perfect place to
renew our vows and establish new ones to each other for the years to come.
In the 10 years we’ve been married we’ve created a family, a home and a life together. We have
grown as individuals and as a couple. We still enjoy the simple things that brought us together:
Like coffee in the morning and evening walks down our road-still dreaming and discussing what
we want to do next.
From newlyweds roaming wherever life took us to a family of four establishing our roots, no
matter where life takes us we find strength and peace in each other and we will continue to grow
as a family and treat life as an adventure.
