Fall Wedding Trends | Ashley + Isaac – For The West and Wild Photography
Since fall is upon us (YAY!) we wanted to put together a list of the top 5 fall wedding trends that we are seeing become more and more popular. Whether you can find a way to incorporate this into your day this fall, or are already planning for next fall, we hope that these give you some inspiration! And if nothing else, allows you to look at the gorgeous wedding shot by For The West and Wild!!
1. Dry Florals (and yes that include pampas grass)
Dry/rummaged natural grown florals are by far our favorite thing to recommend. Mainly because you can get a lot of this around yours or your family’s land (if you want more info or inspiration on this, check out our fall magazine!). While these definitely do not take the place of flowers, they do add a heightened element to your floral décor! Of all the ‘dry floral’ looks, pampas grass is by far the most popular. It’s also one of the most expensive, but it does not have to be. Pampas can be kept for a while (don’t ask us specifically how long, we definitely aren’t florists/gardeners – but if you know please tell us!), so if this is an element that you want included in your wedding, start snipping stems (just a couple per bush) every so often when you come across the bushes. You can start doing this as early as 6 months before your day – not only with pampas but with any natural grown element that you would want included in your décor! Just make sure you take the steps to dry the stems so they last until your big day.
2. Rust and Mustard Colors
It is no secret that when thinking ‘fall wedding’ a lot of peoples thoughts go to a color palette full of rust and mustard hues. And why wouldn’t you? They are the perfect colors for a fall wedding because they represent the beautiful changing colors of fall!! Ashley brought these colors perfectly to life through her bridesmaids dresses (which we’ll get to momentarily) and her florals. We definitely adore wedding that incorporate these colors, but also understand that some brides, while wanting to incorporate these colors, don’t necessarily want them to be the ‘main’ colors in their wedding. So our advice is to have your main colors, and incorporate the rust and mustard hues in minor florals, table runners, candles, votives, or even ties that your guy’s wear! Need more in depth ideas? 3. Pumpkins
We know there are a lot of brides from places that don’t see ‘fall weather’ until mid to late November, but they want an October/Early November wedding. So ladies, this trend is for you!
We saw something the other day from a friend in Texas that read – Pumpkins: the difference between summer and fall in Texas. Because we know that there are many brides who desire a fall wedding, but have a difficult time finding a way to incorporate fall in their décor (especially when their climate maybe isn’t cooperating), our biggest suggestion is incorporating pumpkins!! It is definitely becoming quite popular, and there’s a reason – because it’s EASY and because it looks AMAZING!! Don’t have that rust color in your wedding? Use white! Want to incorporate different colors? Go for it! Paint pumpkins a dusty blue, blush, rose gold, grey, black. The possibilities are endless!!
4. Minimal Décor
Notice how Ashley and Isaac used a simple triangle arch for their ceremony? This allowed for the beauty of the land to be witnessed by all guests. Fall is such a beautiful time with gorgeous colors, so your goal for décor should be to allow the beauty of the season to truly shine through! Another example of this is the way that they decorated their table tops: not using hand laid greenery or full florals throughout the entire table, but rather macramé runner with candles and simple blooms placed randomly down the table.
5. Long. Sleeve. Bridesmaid. Dresses.
I mean seriously….ALL the heart eyes from us on this one!
So we discussed how people are including fall elements whenever they don’t live in a ‘fall weather’ climate, but here’s a trend that’s becoming more and more popular in a climate that does have fall weather. Ashley showcased this perfectly with her ladies – just look at those bridesmaids gowns!!!
