“My favorite moment from this day was an incredibly emotional one. Brandon lost his mother, suddenly after his 17th birthday to a very aggressive breast cancer. Brandon and Chandler’s wedding day was the day after the anniversary of his mother’s passing, which they knew would be very emotional. As a surprise the mother of the bride bought a celtic knot locket, to honor his Scottish heritage. Chandler, the bride, put a photo of his mother inside and had it attached to his boutteniere so that his mother would be close to his heart on their big day. Let me tell you, the bride and the groom weren’t the only ones in tears during this moment.” – Photographer, Daedra.
From the Bride
Brandon and I met through a set-up of two friends that worked together one night at a bar in downtown Denver. We met and proceeded to become inseparable for the next few year. Our first official date was at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo so it was only fitting that nearly two years later, Brandon proposed there. He was able to set up to where all of our friends were in town, something not unusual as we host them pretty often, especially for these kinds of events. He was able to work out that we would get into the arena for a ‘historical Denver Coliseum tour’ for the two of us and a couple of other family members set up by my grandad after one of the performances. Unbeknownst to me, not only were our friends that were in town in attendance, but many of our other local friends and family with a surprise engagement party waiting at our house after.
We chose the Younger Ranch not only because family friends owned it, but it exuded everything that was ‘us’ when we went for our tour. We had chosen a fall wedding and picked a date based on availability without realizing the significance that it had on both of our family lives. September 18th is Brandon’s sister and brother in law’s wedding anniversary as well as the passing of their mother. September 19th (our wedding date) was also the same anniversary of my great grandparent’s with my grandparent’s anniversary being within a couple more days as well. It was the perfect date! My mom and sister (MOH) created the best invites to set the tone for our great day. As for the rest of our vendors, I think we just got super lucky with who we chose without really knowing much about the ‘wedding world’ at the time! Something New Boutique provided the greatest service and experience for helping pick out the perfect dress. My mom helped to make the dress “mine” by oxidizing silver beads to create Navajo Pearls to go on the back straps of my dress. Our desserts were done by one of Brandon’s sisters, which included their mom’s cheesecake recipe. Our flowers were done by my sister (MOH)’s best friend from high school and her mom and man did they blow it out of the water! My sister happened to find Native Roaming through Instagram stalking and that couldn’t have been a better match because Daedra and I quickly connected and I now consider her a close friend. Her photos and suggestion of Chase with Middle House Co. for our videography changed the way that we will remember our wedding forever. We used the Younger Ranch’s suggested vendors for our catering and day of coordinator. Jessica with Garden of the Gods Catering was absolutely outstanding in providing service and food that you wouldn’t even think was possible for a wedding. Andrea with LA Events and Weddings did the unimaginable with helping to navigate planning a wedding during a pandemic. Again, I say I feel like I lucked out with vendors because I feel like each one went above and beyond to make our day as special and even greater than I could have ever imagined.
We loved our day and wouldn’t change a thing! I’d love to say I’d do it again, but I don’t think it would ever be as perfect as it was!
