My story starts in a way that isn’t common for people my age. I became a widow at the age of 34 after being married to my husband, Luke Kellerman, for almost 10 years. In September of 2008, I married Luke. He was the Turf Manager for the Denver Broncos, I was working in Tax and Accounting, and life was going according to plan! However, fast forward to 2015, when Luke was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer at 32 years old. Our entire life changed. Sadly, in October of 2017, after being the strongest and most inspirational man I have ever met, Luke passed away. To say that my heart was broken is an understatement. I struggled for a year after his passing, until I decided to pick myself up and start going out with friends and family again.
It was in 2018 that I met Kyle. I knew from our very first date that I was done dating. My sister and best friends were told about him that night and they all had similar responses… that he sounded like EXACTLY my type. He brought me back to life. Among the many wonderful things about Kyle is that he is completely understanding of my past with Luke. He knows how my love for Luke is never ending, and feels no competition or negativity about it. I feel incredibly lucky to have found love twice in my lifetime, with two incredible men. Kyle and I dated for about a year and a half before I moved into his ranch with him in Kiowa, Colorado. After another year, he proposed at sunset, on our deck. We decided to elope because we both had no interest in planning a wedding, or the stress that comes with it! On February 19, 2021, Kyle and I exchanged vows privately on the ranch, with my dog as our witness. Afterwards, we had photos taken by my incredibly talented friend Nicole and then headed to a restaurant for a steak dinner. It was perfect. We plan on having a BBQ this summer to celebrate with friends and family, and will take a honeymoon in a couple months. We can’t wait!
