THE LOVE STORY
‘It was no secret among Amy’s closest friends, that she thought Ben Terry was incredibly handsome but there was no way she would be acting any further on those thoughts. That was until her best friend Amber accidentally told Ben. Suddenly, she found herself trying to avoid the tall, dark & handsome cowboy as she was quite certain he was far too young & immature, surely not interested in the kind of serious relationship that Amy was. After months & months of Ben using every opportunity to talk, impress or flirt, she finally agreed to a date. It turns out, he was far more mature & respected than she ever realised. Within just one week, they were officially an item and within two weeks, Ben had already declared that he was falling in love with her! Ever the responsible & calculating one, she didn’t reciprocate with an “I love you too.” Oh no. Instead, she gave him a stern talking to and told him “you don’t say that unless you mean it,” and warned him not to tell her again when he really meant it. I think secretly, they both were absolutely head over heels from the very beginning, because it did not take long for I love you to become a regular exchange of words between them.
After Ben & Amy welcomed their daughter, Frankie, in April of 2020, there was only one other thing that Amy truly wanted. She wanted to share the same last name as the two people who had stolen her heart. There were few decisions to be made when Ben finally proposed, three months after Frankie was born. Amy had been dreaming & planning her wedding, right down to the colour palette, caterer & month, for quite some time. And what a day it was that she had planned. For months now, she has been telling me that their wedding was just very simple, not too exciting as they did have a budget to keep in mind if they are ever going to afford to buy some land to call their own. Anyone who was in attendance on Saturday will tell you that it was far from plain, simple & unexciting! The ceremony kicked off with Ben & his six groomsmen galloping on horseback toward the 130 guests who were enjoying a little lush green oasis in the middle of a paddock. The mountain that stood behind Ben & Amy as they shared their vows was so incredibly picturesque, it hardly felt like North Queensland and more like a backdrop from an old western film. The styling, while not elaborate floral pieces, were such a fresh & beautiful change; pots of homegrown flowers scattered around, gum leaves running down the centre of the tables, jars of special family made marmalade & jams for each guest, a wagon wheel above the dance floor & a bar made by the groom himself were just some of finishing touches that truly created such a warm & homely ambience. It was not just a wedding, but a day that friends & family had all lovingly pitched in toward, does it really get any better than that?! In a world where so many people are separated by pandemic or by personal odds, a wedding where two families and countless friends come together to help create a day tailored perfectly to two people is by far the greatest kind of wedding there is!'” – Written by Vicki Miller
